Treasure Planet (2002) 6/10

Starring : Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Brian Murray, Emma Thompson, Tony Jay, Roscoe Lee Browne, David Hyde Pierce
Director : Ron Clements & John Musker
Running Time : 91 mins

In Disney's 42nd Animated Classic, Jim Hawkins (Gordon-Levitt) gets a job as a cabin boy on a space ship. There he befriends the cyborg cook, John Silver (Murray), and becomes a valuable member of the crew, but when he discovers that John Silver is in fact a notorious pirate who plans on starting a mutiny against Captain Amelia (Thompson), and he must decide where his loyalties lie…

Not one of Disney’s best, but still reasonably entertaining. It’s a little bit sad that Disney felt that setting the movie at sea was too dull and changed the setting to space (probably in part due to the popularity of Lilo And Stitch), but thankfully that didn’t detract too much from the story.
