Die Hard 4.0 (2007) 7/10

John McClane (Willis) is charged with bringing a computer hacker Matt Farrell (Long) in to see the FBI, but they are fired upon when he arrives at his house. It turns out that ex-government employee Thomas Gabriel (Olyphant) is attempting to kill off a number of skilled computer hackers who have helped him develop a system by which he can shut down the entire United States.

This had the distinct feel to it that Michael Bay had been involved in production, yet this came from the director of the Underworld movies. The action was a little over the top, even for a Die Hard movie, what with the previous instalments usually opting for more acceptable and believable violence. All in all it was pretty good, but definitely not a patch on the original, and it was a little too similar to 16 Blocks.
