1408 (2007) 8/10

Starring : John Cusack, Mary McCormack, Samuel L Jackson, Jasmine Jessica Anthony, Tony Shalhoub
Director : Mikael Hafstrom
Running Time : 105 mins

Mike Enslin (Cusack) writes books about haunted locations in the USA. When he receives a postcard which reads "Don’t enter 1408", he can’t resist investigating the mysterious room at the Dolphin Hotel. He is told by hotel manager Gerald Olin (Jackson) that no-one has ever lasted an hour on their own in the cursed room, but Mike Enslin can’t resist a challenge and insists on staying… with terrifying results.

Based on the short story by Stephen King, this is actually a pretty good adaptation, considering some of the disasters that have graced our screens in the past. Cusack has the unenviable job of being the primary focus for a large portion of the film, but he manages to keep the viewer interested throughout. Definitely worth watching if you like classic King horror.
