Thir13en Ghosts (2001) 7/10

Starring : Tony Shalhoub, Embeth Davidtz, Matthew Lillard, Shannon Elizabeth
Director : Steve Beck
Running Time : 91 mins

Arthur Kriticos (Shalhoub) inherits a house from his crazy uncle Cyrus, unaware that it was designed to trap the spirits of twelve malevolent spirits. As he and his children start exploring the house, they unwittingly begin releasing the ghosts from their prison, with terrifying results.

Actually, this was quite a decent film. It was pretty self-evident that this was based on a fifties horror movie (from the same writer as House On Haunted Hill), but it had a nice feel to it, and the designers of the ghosts really outdid themselves, though it wasn’t always easy to get a good look at them other than in the bonus features on the DVD. In addition, it was a nice touch to incorporate the 3D glasses from the original movie into this remake.
