Starring : Ryan Kwanten, Amber Valletta, Donnie Wahlberg, Michael Fairman, Joan Heney, Judith Roberts
Director : James Wan
Running Time : 92 mins
Following the receipt of a ventriloquist’s dummy in the post, the wife of Jamie Ashen (Kwanten) is brutally murdered, her face carved up to look like a dummy! Jamie suspects that the doll and it’s owner, Mary Shaw (Roberts) are behind the murder, so he travels back to his home town to try and find answers to why his wife was killed. But what he finds leaves him with more questions than answers…
This movie pretty much takes elements from a number of horror classics, ranging from Child’s Play to Candyman, whilst still remaining quite original in its theme. It takes the idea of an urban myth come to life and throws this in with a modern murder investigation. Although not as good as Saw, you can really tell that this was made by the same people, and I’m expecting Dead Silence 2 to be released some time next summer.
