In a secret underground installation called The Hive, a deadly virus is released into the air conditioning, killing all of the staff. The Umbrella Corporation, who own the facility, send in a crack military team to check for survivors, but what they discover is terrifying – the staff have all been turned into monstrous, murderous zombies! The military group have to fight for their lives against not only the zombies, but the installation itself, which seems to have the primary goal of killing everyone within it.
This film is surprisingly good – I was expecting a nonsensical, plotless mishmash of rubbish, cobbled together to sell more computer games, but this actually did have some depth to it, unlike predecessors such as Super Mario Brothers. Definitely worth checking out if you like your horror films to be nice and gory, but with substance.
