Planet Terror (2007) 8/10

When a chemical gas is released into the atmosphere, turning thousands of Americans into zombie-like flesh-eating creatures, a small group of resistance fighters, including one-legged stripped Cherry Darling (McGowan) and her mysterious mechanic boyfriend El Wray (Rodriguez), find themselves battling the forces of evil in order to stop themselves from becoming infected as well.

I was shocked that this took so long to be released in the UK, especially as it is so much better than Deathproof, it’s partner in Grindhouse. This was treated in a much clever way than Tarantino’s movie, with some far better attempts to date the movie and make it feel like it truly had been rescued from the cutting room floor, including a "missing reel".
