The Day After Tomorrow (2004) 7/10

Starring : Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emmy Rossum, Arjay Smith, Ian Holm
Director : Roland Emmereich
Running Time : 119 mins

Climatologist Jack Hall (Quaid) discovers that global warming is speeding up, which could lead to a worldwide ecological disaster. No one listens to him until a hurricane hits New York, where coincidentally Jack’s son Sam (Gyllenhaal) is trapped with a number of his school friends.

It was pretty obvious that this was made by the same people who made Independence Day, even down to the fact that one of the Quaid brothers helps to try and save the world. This is more a movie of special effects than plot, and if you go into this just for the spectacle and don’t hop for too much in depth plot development, then this should keep you more than entertained.
