Van Helsing (2004) 6/10

This is one of those films which seems okay when you first watch, but the second time it's really not as good. Hugh Jackman plays Van Helsing, a vampire hunter who travels to Transylvania to do battle with Dracula (Roxburgh), with the aid of his friend Carl (Wenham), and the mysterious Anna (Beckinsale) who's family have committed their lives to ridding the world of evil.

As with most of the Universal monster movies, the effects here are pretty effective, but there's something lacking in the plot line which feels like it's been stretched too thinly.
