Cruise once again plays super-spy Ethan Hunt, who has now retired from active duty to train new IMF agents, but he is called back into action to confront the toughest villain he's ever faced, Owen Davian (Hoffman), an international weapons and information provider with no remorse and no conscience.

Unlike M:I 2, this was actually pretty enjoyable and full of clever stunts and interesting, though convoluted, plot twists. Philip Seymour Hoffman is always good as the villain, and Tom Cruise was actually likeable in this third installment.
