Starring : Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Rupert Evans, John Hurt
Director : Guillermo del Toro
Running Time : 118 mins
Hellboy (Perlman) was accidentally conjured up by Nazis during a black magic ritual, and rescued and raised by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm (Hurt). He is eventually welcomed into the Bureau of Paranomal Research where he helps stop everyday weird happenings from reaching the public eye. But when Rasputin (Karel Roden) is brought back from the dead, Hellboy is coerced into joining forced with new Bureau Agent John Myers (Evans).
Despite a lot of negative press this was actually a very entertaining film. I went into this blind, having not read any of the Hellboy comic books, but found the majority of the film to be very well grounded. My only real problem was the ending; I know now that they were making way for the sequel, but at the time this just felt unfinished and rushed!
