This is definitely Steve Martin at his best. This is in my top five Steve Martin movies of all time along with The Man With Two Brains, Planes Trains & Automobiles, Little Shop Of Horrors and Bowfinger. Martin plays Rigby Reardon, a private detective who is hired by Juliet Forrest (Ward) to investigate her fathers disappearance. During his investigations, he meets the likes of Humphrey Bogart, Charles Laughton, Bette Davis, Vincent Price, Veronica Lake, Cary Grant, Lana Turner, and many more classic Hollywood stars. Reiner's use of clips and segments from classic Universal movies is done brilliantly.
