Fired Up (2009) 7/10

Shawn Colfax (D’Agosto) and Nick Brady (Olsen) are the most popular boys on their school football team, but when they find out football camp has been relocated from Daytona Beach to Texas they decide to join the cheerleading squad at cheer camp instead, but when Shawn falls for head cheerleader Carly (Roemer), the boys are forced to come up with some award winning cheers so that she doesn’t think they’re just there for the babes.

This harks back to the good old days of teen comedies like American Pie and Bring It on. The leads are likeable, although considerably older than they’re playing, but that doesn’t detract from the comedy. There’s the usual plotline you’d expect from a teen comedy, and there’s some in jokes in scenes where the cheerleaders watch Bring It On and chant the script together.
