The Italian Job (2003) 6/10

Charlie Croker (Wahlberg) leads a group of thieves as they try to steal back the 35 million dollars worth of gold bars from a heist in Italy where they were betrayed by one of their co-thieves. Their plan is to take control of the local traffic light system and use mini coopers to escape via the sidewalks, where normal cars will be unable to pursue them.

This was a confused remake in that it wasn’t exactly the same plot – there were similarities, but the main difference was that the major heist doesn’t even take place in Italy. The cast are amiable enough and work together well on the scream, but this isn’t anything more than and intriguing look at what the original would have been like if the Americans had got their hands on it.
