40 Days And 40 Nights (2002) 5/10

Matt Sullivan (Hartnett) makes a bet with his friends and decides to give up all sorts of sexual activity for lent, but then meets the girl of his dreams, Erica Sutton (Sossamon) a few days into his vow. So Matt decides to try to keep his bet a secret from Erica, although his friends think it might be funny to put his vow to the test.

Although this was quite a standard American sex comedy, this didn’t quite work for me. Hartnett puts in an admirable performance as Matt, but Sossamon seemed a little boring as the romantic lead, and I didn’t find it that believable that he’d like her as much as he did.
