The Passion Of The Christ (2004) 7/10

Starring : James Caviezel, Maia Morgenstern, Christo Jivkov, Francesco De Vito, Monica Bellucci
Director : Mel Gibson
Running Time : 119 mins

Jesus (Caviezel) is arrested for blasphemy by the Romans due to his apparent claims of performing miracles with his magical powers, and is sentenced to the most painful and horrible death imaginable.

This movie was okay, if a little graphic, but quite what Mel Gibson was thinking when he directed this we’ll probably never know. In spite of being a devout Catholic, he decides to create the kind of movie that the Church has been fighting against for years, with its scenes of brutal violence from the very start of the film. Fair enough, it’s most likely the most realistic portrayal of the crucifixion that we’re going to see, but steer clear if you are overly sensitive or have a weak stomach.

You’ll like this if you liked : Apocalypto
