Starring : Hayden Panettiere, Paul Rust, Jack T Carpenter, Lauren London, Lauren Storm
Director : Chris Colombus
Running Time : 98 mins
Denis Cooverman (Rust), perpetual nerd, decides to make a speech at his High School graduation, declaring his love for Beth Cooper (Panettiere). After feeling humiliated, he and his best friend Rich (Carpenter) are shocked to find that Beth and her two friends Cammy (London) and Treece (Storm) standing on his doorstep, having actually turned up for his valedictorian graduation party. But with Beth’s boyfriend on the warpath, Denis’s night soon turns into a disastrous adventure he’ll never forget.
This movie harks back to the olden days of teen movies, with Chris Colombus at the helm and even Alan Ruck of Ferris Bueller fame putting in an appearance as Denis’s dad. It’s a little more risqué than some more recent high school comedies, with brief nudity and threesomes amongst the plotline, and the teen actors actually look like they could be teenagers for a change. Worth checking out if you enjoyed American Pie.
