Ghost In The Shell : Solid State Society (2006) 6/10

Starring : Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, Richard Epcar, Crispin Freeman
Director : Kenji Kamiyama
Running Time : 113 mins

Section 9 is forced to investigate a series of suicides that are blamed on a mysterious individual known only as The Pupeteer who it is believed is forcing people to kill themselves. Suspicion falls on Major Motoko Kusanagi (McGlynn), but when Section 9 realise that the suicides are connected to the kidnapping of as many as 20,000 children they discover a far more sinister plot.

This really wasn't as good as the original movie, and not quite as interesting as the sequel, Innocence. The animation hasn't really changed since the second installment, but the story line felt too confusing, and the reintroduction of the Major was just too convenient. Hardcore fans should just stick with the original and pretend this didn't happen unless they really want to know what happened next.
