The Ring Two (2005) 7/10

Rachel Keller (Watts) discovered that the evil tape that kills anyone who watches it within seven days is still doing the rounds, so she finds the tape at a crime scene and destroys it, but this enrages the spirit of Samara who decides to possess Rachel’s son Aidan (Dorfman) and sets about trying to destroy their family’s lives!

This wasn’t the best horror film I’ve seen recently, but at least they tried to do something a little more original with it. Rather than taking note from the Japanese Ring sequels, writer Ehren Kruger has taken the bare bones of the story and given us something new. For this and this alone I’ve bumped the rating up a little so I’d recommend giving it a chance, but don’t be disappointed if you preferred the originals.
