Sunshine Cleaning (2008) 6/10

Starring : Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Alan Arkin, Jason Spevack, Steve Zahn, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Clifton Collins Jr
Director : Christine Jeffs
Running Time : 88 mins

In an attempt to raise the funds to send her son to private school, Rose Lorkowski (Adams) decides to start a new business - a crime scene clean-up service. With the assistance of her less than reliable flaky sister Norah (Blunt), the two start to develop their business, but find the job less than rewarding and incredibly time consuming, as well as incredibly messy.

This wasn’t anywhere near as good as I was hoping. The humour is far too black and deadpan to raise more than a smile for the duration, and although there are some slapstick moments they aren’t as well orchestrated as they were in Little Miss Sunshine, the maker’s previous film. Adams and Blunt keep the moving going with their great characterizations, but unfortunately that isn’t really enough to keep this from being anything more than just mediocre.
