When Rose (Chambers) undergoes experimental plastic surgery following a motor cycle accident, the result is it causes her to develop a taste for blood and she becomes the carrier for a deadly virus that turns people into mindless zombie-like killers.

Cronenberg’s second feature film is everything you could expect from him. It’s violent, mindless, a little bit complicated, and features enough nudity to satisfy any teenage boy’s wet dreams. In spite the schlock quality of this, it still doesn’t fail to amuse while it tries to preach how, when society tries to make drastic changes, it can only lead to disaster.
