In 18th Century Ireland, the first born son would inherit their family fortune, whereas the other children were forced to either join the priesthood or resort to marrying a wealthy heiress. A third option soon arose, and the Abduction Club was born, with men chossing to kidnap heiresses and then convince them to marry them, much to the disliking of the wealthy parents.
I just couldn't get into this film, in spite of the beautiful scenery The plot was smooth and fluid, and quite a humorous concept, but the acting was just a little sub standard, especially from the lead men. Perhaps I need to watch this again to truly appreciate the story, but as it stands it just didn't feel that this movie was everything it could have been.
