Starring : Stephanie Leonidas, Jason Barry, Rob Brydon, Gina McKee
Director : Dave McKean
Running Time : 101 mins
Helena (Leonidas) finds herself transported into a magical world where the powers of light and dark are in constant struggle and everyone wears a mask. With the help of a local named Valentine (Barry), she finds herself faced with the task of rescuing the realm by finding the fabled MirrorMask and using it to save the white queen and restore order before returning to her own world and stopping her evil twin from destroying her life.
This was a fun movie, though it started off badly with all those circus folk. Leonidas is likeable as Helena, and Barry does a few funny turns, but it wasn’t as good as some of Gaiman’s other work, specifically Stardust which I simply loved. Worth watching, but it could have been a lot better.
