Centurion Quintus Dias (Fassbender), the last remaining survivor of a Pict attack on a Roman fort, joins the Ninth Legion of Titus Flavious Virilius (West) when they rescue him from his aggressorsas they head in search of the Pict, but when they are betrayed and decimated by their Pict guide, Etain (Kurylenko), the survivors find themselves running for their lives.
This was actually a really entertaining movie that manages to mix action with historical accuracy (or as near as you can get – who knows what kind of accent Picts and Romans had?). Fassbender is very good in the lead role, and the supporting cast manage to give each of their characters a uniqueness that makes them stand out as individuals rather than just a collective of soldiers.
