Starring : Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis
Director : Albert & Allen Hughes
Running Time : 118 mins
A lone drifter named Eli (Washington) travels across the American desert in a post-apocalyptic future where cannibals roam in search of food. Eli’s only true companion is a mysterious book which brings him his only real solace, but when he meets a man named Carnegie (Oldman) he finds his grasp on the book at risk.
Surprisingly I found this movie thoroughly enjoyable. As usual Oldman is brilliant as the apparent villain of the piece, but it is Washington’s performance eas the understated hero that makes the movie so interesting. He is suitably downbeat and manages to get us as viewers to like him without him actually doing anything to earn our trust.
