Reign Over Me (2007) 8/10

Alan Johnson (Don Cheadle) is a successful dentist who co-runs his own practice, but one day he runs into his old college roommate Charlie Fineman (Sandler), who is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder following the death of his wife and children during the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Alan decides to make it his duty to help Charlie get over his problems before Charlie’s inlaws have him committed.

This was a surprisingly moving film, with some very strong performances, especially from Don Cheadle who underplays the humour of the piece expertly. Sandler is basically playing the same character as in Punch-Drunk Love, but he does it very well and really makes you feel for him as an audience.
