Starring : Matt Lucas, Billy Crystal, Juno Temple, James Marsden, Peter Stormare, James Caan, Johnny Knoxville
Director : Jonas Akerlund
Running Time : 97 mins
Slightly troubled Franklin Franklin (Lucas) lives in an apartment complex, surrounded by strange and colourful characters that have various problems of their own. When he accidentally kills his abusive landlord, Mr Olivetti (Stormare), Franklin is forced to try and hide the body, while distracted by his oddball neighbours and faced with the terrible news that his brother Bernard (Marsden) has died.
The performances in this apparent comedy were a little lacking in any kind of skill as far as I’m concerned. Matt Lucas really doesn’t work as a lead, and his American accent wasn’t particularly convincing. The fact that he is obviously completely nuts is very much underplayed, which was a little annoying, and the overall direction was flat and kind of unimaginative.
