Flight (2012) 7/10

Commercial pilot Whip Whitaker (Washington) is captaining a flight when the plane’s controls stop responding. He manages to land the crash land the plane and saves the majority of those on the flight, with only a few of the passengers and crew being killed, and his is dubbed a hero. That is until his blood alcohol levels are discovered to be way over the allowable limit and he finds himself facing criminal charges.

Denzel puts in a great performance in this movie, and you can’t help but feel sorry for him even though he was drinking on the job. He did manage to save the majority of the passengers on his plane, and it wasn’t his fault the plane crashed, but I guess that’s just bad luck. This does run a little long, but it doesn’t feel as long as it is. Well worth watching, if only for Denzel’s performance.
